Our family is of mostly German, Scottish and Irish descent. Our ancestors, amoung other ethnicities, came to America in search of a better life and built what we know as The United States today. Our Scottish ancestors were mostly from the area around Argyll in Scotland, which were Campbell lands. However, prior to being integrated into the Campbel clan, there were the Cawdor's. Today they are known as the Cawdor's of Campbell.
The Cawdor Clan Chief wanted to build a new castle. He was "told" through a dream to put all he owned in wagon hitched to a donkey and build his castle where the donkey stopped. The donkey stopped under a Holly Tree, sometimes called the Winter Oak. The castle was built around the Holly Tree which is still present inside the castle today.
Therefore, our emblem is that of Holly Tree with Highland Cattle in the background and Aussies guarding them from the shade of the tree. We chose the name Argyll Giving Tree (AGT) Kennels to pay homage to our ancestors. We found that to be a fitting way to honor the men and dogs that, without whom, our country would not be what it is today.
OUR MISSION
We breed Aussies based on the old working lines. You will see many of those lines in the pedigrees for each of our foundation dogs. We want to produce dogs that have a good temperament, are well socialized, and versatile to place in active or working homes. Some of the training we will be doing is Agility, Herding, and Search and Rescue. Some of our dogs descendents or relatives of Aussies that worked search and rescue in Oklahoma City and Ground Zero on 9/11.
OUR VISION
Our goal is to create a place where Aussie lovers can come to get a ranch hand, a trail dog, a search and rescue partner, or just a pal and know that pup will meet their needs. With hard work and dedication, we intend to meet that goal for each of our buyers. We hope to carry on the long tradition of Working Australian Shepherds with the highest standards, while creating a lasting legacy with a lineage based on the old working lines.
